315K For the Cure is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families battling pediatric cancer in Central New York.
Founded in 2014 by pediatric cancer survivors, we understand firsthand how difficult the treatment process and resulting side effects, both physical and mental, can be for families undergoing the ordeal. Through a variety of fundraising events, merchandise sales, and speaking engagements, 315K For the Cure donates all proceeds it raises to the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, New York.
Co-founders Colin LaReaux and Brooke Hoffman are cancer survivors themselves, both having been treated at Upstate. Utica, New York natives, Colin and Brooke share an affinity for all things Utica, especially the Boilermaker, a 15 kilometer road race held annually in Utica (hence the name 315K for the Cure). Using the Boilermaker as a platform, and incorporating our other interests, including fitness and beer (two hallmarks of the Boilermaker), Colin and Brooke began hosting happy hour and fitness based fundraising events.
Word quickly spread about our cause, and with the help of our friends, families, and a tremendous outpouring of support from those in our local and extended communities too numerous to name, we have raised over $60,000.00 for Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital to purchase entertainment (video games, books, art supplies, etc) for use by the children and their families undergoing treatment.
Our goal is to help families fight pediatric cancer. We thank everyone who has become involved, and welcome all our friends, old, new and those we haven’t met yet, to continue to support us, to share in our goals, and to have a lot of fun doing it.
